Back to School Tag

I do like to enter the challenges over at
Tag Tuesday whenever time allows.
This fortnight their them is "Back To School"....after a rummage in my stash the most I would come up with was a few school documents which I cut out from some backing papers.

The stamp of the little girl is one I picked up in a craft shop sale, I can't remember the maker, but the way she is dressed I thought she would make the perfect school girl...so I painted her in green and yellow so it looks like a school uniform...
The back to school was stamped using small alphabet stamps.

In my Garden

Guess what I have made...a card. Well I have this super Garden stamp that I just had to use for the challenge over at TIOT ( Try it on Tuesday )
Their theme this time around is In my Garden.

I made a topper for the card using this fab little stamp by Crafty Individuals...then added the silver word tab.
I just love the sentiment under the man's chair....

I matted and layered the base card and added some garden string and a silver watering card....

Then I added the topper to finish the card....
This card is for the challenge at TIOT ( Try it on Tuesday )

Tick Tock Clock Tag.

Hello..do you know that Go Tag Thursday have a challenge that has just started...it used to be a weekly challenge, but has now gone fortnightly...
The theme for this challenge is Clocks or Watches and here are my Tags....

For my first Tag I have used an MDF one from
                                       Fernli Designs

I gessoed the Tag and then dabbed it with alcohol inks, then stamped with a stamp by Paperartsy.
On some scrap  card that had already been coloured with Oxide inks, I stamped the set of wings by Visible Image..then cut them out and added them to my Tag.
I then added the watch and chain.

I covered this Tag in some backing paper from my stash and on some plain white card I stamped the image twice, which are all on the one stamp, Urban Stamp by Papermania.
I lightly coloured all the images and then cut them out. I added a torn strip of paper with clocks on and added that under the image of the boy before adding all the clocks.
To finish I cut the centres of the binoculars out and coloured the rims, then added them to the tag.

Scrappy Tag

I am sure I am not alone when I say I can't find anything on my work desk because I have so much stuff on it..a pile of stuff here, a pile of stuff there, rubber stamps that need putting away and the ever growing pile of paper offcuts, lol....
Lucky for me the theme at Tag Tuesday is "To Use Your Scraps"..so while I was making the tag I was also making space on my desk...

I covered my tag with a scrap of backing paper, added a torn scrap of corrugated card that I swiped over with gesso..added 2 little scraps of sticky backed mesh..I was glad to use that up as they have been stuck to the side of my lamp for months, lol.
I used a doily and half wrapped it around the tag..In one of the tubs on my desk I had an vintage advertising card that was torn so I just distressed the edges more and  added 2 stamps to it and added it to my tag.
The lace was from a top I no longer wear and I cut the lace off and that too has been sitting on my desk for ages.
The sentiment tabs are from a friend, they aren't something I use very often, but they were just sitting there in a little poly bag so I had to use a couple...and I found a ready tied bow.
The image had been pre stamped for another project a few months ago..I always stamp an image a few times in case I mess one of them up when colouring or cutting.
You can find this lovely challenge here at

Just a couple of photos of the last lot of stuff to be sorted on my desk... lol

Famous Building Postcard

Do you ever have "one of those days"..well I've had one today...everything I had planned to do didn't happen for one reason or another..I got a tad irritable and decided to shut myself away in my garage and crafted for most of the day....and that resulted in me getting some projects finished and some others started...
So here we are with my Postcard for Sunday Postcard Art

The theme this week was chosen by Rein and she chose Famous Buildings.
My first choice was to create my postcard using stamps of Big Ben, but you know when you can't get a theme flowing, so I decided to change it and rummaged through my stamps, eventually I settled with the Eiffel Tower in France....it really is an amazing piece of architecture.
The background of my postcard was built up using inks, paints and stamped images. I stamped the tower, then the postcard script and postmark.
The couple is also a stamp and I coloured in the lady's scarf just to highlight it a bit.
You can find the challenge here at

I am also entering my postcard in to the challenge at Try it on Tuesday
Their theme is Postcards

A Couple of Tags

This weeks challenge is underway over at Go Tag Thursday....and the theme is Anything Goes.
So if you enjoy making Tags..any medium is acceptable, then do pop over and join in.

                                               Tag One

I have made 2 tags..one that is stamped on card that was coloured using oxide distress inks and then sprayed with seal and shine.
I love the oxide inks, but I do find their colour to be a lacks lustre, in some cases that's absolutely fine, but in this instance I wanted a brighter look.
As I had some fairy images on my work bench I added one to my Tag....

                                           Tag Two

My 2nd Tag was created from mount board that I had applied acrylic paints to. When the paint was dry I stamped the main image and then built the tag up using some small background stamps.
I sprayed the tag with seal and shine which really enhances the paints and inks..makes them so much brighter with a bit of a sheen to them.
To finish I added the chain and key...

Altered Cube

Time for this months challenge over at More Mixed Media..the challenges are always anything goes, with an optional twist to use the specified colour or colours.
For August the Colour theme is "Brights "
So for my designer piece I decorated one of my wooden cubes..these are solid wood and make great paper weights.

I started by sealing the wood with a primer and while that was drying I coloured some card with Oxide distress inks, spritzing and drying with a heat tool until I got the colour how I wanted it.

When the card was completely dry I cut 6 pieces to cover each side, top & bottom of my cube.
I stamped the images on each piece..these are new stamps that I was lucky enough to win from Aall&Create, designed by Tracy Evans..so this is their very first outing and I love them.

Once the inks were dry I adhered the card to the cube then sprayed it all over with Seal&Shine which really enhances the oxide ink colours.
To finish I decorated a heart in colours that matched and adhered it to the top of the cube.
Do pop over to check out the challenge..you have the opportunity of winning some fabulous digi paper packs from Lozzy, our boss lady...

The Letter "S"

This is the theme for this weeks challenge over at Go Tag Thursday...it really is surprising how many themes I could think of beginning with "S"...so I set off to my craft room and got started..and what do I do, I make my tags completely different from the ones I was going to do.
The reason for that is because I was going through all my stamps looking for the ones I needed and came across others that were suitable and haven't been used in a while,lol...in fact I think I have only used the shoes stamp 3 time in all the years I've had it...
                                    So here we are my
                                         Spooky Tag

and my Shoe Tag

Turquoise & Dark Brown Tag

Hello from a wet and windy place in Devon.UK. It really is miserable outside and it's quite dark here to, what with being surrounded by tall hedges and trees my lounge is quite dark today.
I've created a tag from mount board, I have quite a lot of it and I like  the thickness of it as it with stands a lot of paint and inks etc.
Over at Tag Tuesday the theme is Favourite Colours...so of course I had to enter the challenge.

I love Turquoise and Dark Brown and to be honest I don't use this colour combination enough...of course most of us crafters have several colour combos we like to use and I have others too, but this one stands out the most for me.
I coloured the mount board tag in turquoise ink and when it was dry I stamped the image in dark brown.
On a spare piece of card that I coloured I re-stamped the heart section of the stamp. Once dry I added glossy accents to it, then left it to dry before cutting out and adding to my Tag.
To finish I distressed the edges of the tag in dark brown.

August Challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit

For my designer project for August I decided to alter a canvas.
The canvas itself had been previously coloured, so I went over that with a wash of diluted acrylic paints..then using other colours that I had also diluted I loaded a watercolour paint brush and flicked paint over the canvas creating a speckled effect.

I started layering up my canvas with scraps from my stash, distressing the edges of the papers.
I also cut and used halves of a couple of large tags and a ticket and price tag.

I had a Graphic45 menu/label that was in my stash so I adhered the image of this lovely lady to that and added her to the canvas.

Next I added a strip of muslin and added a strip of lace. I then added a strip of fabric that had some lovely blue script on it..and embellished that with a key.

I finished embellishing the canvas with a optician's lens on the lady's face, some flowers and a metal leaf...and I just couldn't resist adding the beautiful lace butterfly.

As always at Rhedds, it is altered art and there is no theme...No Papercrafts as in Cards or Atcs.
This is not a prize giving challenge ,however we do select a Winner, a Runner Up and a Design Team Choice..and of course there are the badges to go with that...and even if you have been selected before, you can still be selected again.....so do pop over and have a look.

Altered Rolling Pin..Shabby Chic style

A while ago I stumbled across some altered rolling pins and I was amazed how gorgeous some of the were...so what better project for my designer project for Altered Eclectics this month.

My rolling pin is a smaller type, the wood is gorgeous, the wood grain was lovely so I decided not to paint it.
I first wrapped some muslin around the pin...then added some fabric that has script printed on it..added another layer of muslin.
All layers of the fabrics I frayed at the edges.

I then added several strips of lace and beaded braid to the pin.
In the centre of the pin I adhered a fabric flower and this beautiful lace butterfly...
the butterfly is gorgeous on its own,but for this project I just wanted to add a little something extra so added a pearly centre piece...
I tied organza ribbon around the neck of each handle so it can be hung up..it's currently on my pine wardrobe door handle...and very nice it looks too...lol.

Do pop over to the challenge blog and play with us this month...all sorts of altered art/mixed media is acceptable...except cards. atcs etc, no papercrafts.

The challenge is here....
