A couple of "Star Tags"

It's Thursday..time for another challenge over at Go Tag Thursday.
The theme this week is Star /Stars

For my first Tag I used a stamp set from Artistic Outpost...First I created a background using Oxide inks and stamping film reels and stars over the tag. I found a film strip stamp, totally for got I owned that and stamped that with Stazon ink on some acetate. The baby and larger stars and sentiment were stamped on to some spare card and coloured...once dry I added them to my tag.

As with my first Tag I created the background with Oxide Inks..the taking different stamps I added the stars and hot air balloon.
The sentiment and Flying Man were stamped on spare card, coloured, cut then applied to the Tag....

So if you like making Tags and you enjoy a challenge do pay us a visit, we are here at

Numbers Postcard....

Finally...I got around to finishing my postcard. I was busy at the weekend with my great grandson and at almost 3yrs I did have my hands full.
This weeks theme at Sunday Postcard Art was chosen by Audrey and she chose "Numbers"

I created the background for my 6" x 4" postcard, then using a selection of stamps I added the grass and number script..then on some spare card I stamped and cut out the numbers and the Hangin ' Out script...
The image of the postman and his son were in the public domain, I remember printing it off about 2/3 yrs ago and never got to use it..so I thought now was a good time.
Isn't it a great image..I love the look on the little boys face...his father dsoen't look too happy either...lol.

Some Fruity Tags....

Fruit is the theme this week over at Go Tag Thursday..as the blog owner I set the themes each week and very often I set myself a difficult challenge....this one is a prime example.
I came up with the theme without thought as to what I was going to use to create my Tags, lol.
I set too and had a good look through a lot of craft stash...
This image of the Cherry Fairy I found in a folder on the shelf and used that for my first tag...

I had a few sheets of backing papers that matched very well, including a piece that actually had cherries on...so I layered up my tag, added the image and all the trims.

For my 2nd Tag I remembered I had  bought this Stampendous stamp from a declutter group absolutely ages ago.
I stamped the image then coloured it using a damp brush and distress inks..then distressed the edges of the tag itself with Walnut Stain.

I added Stickles "Spun Sugar " to highlight areas of the image..unfortunately that doesn't really show in the first photo, so I took another and cropped it.
I hope you will drop by and enter the challenge, which you can find here at

Spectacle Maker Tag

I was having a sort through my stamps and happened to come across a few that I've had for a while from Stampendous and the Cat one was just perfect for my entry for the challenge at Tag Tuesday where their theme this fortnight is Animals.

I used a large Tag and covered it with papers and from some scraps that I had I made a half tag and other layers that I distressed.
I stamped this gorgeous cat, the I coloured him using a damp brush and distress ink, once dry I cut him out.
First time out for this stamp and I love him...
After layering up the papers and half tag I added the cat and the lens and clock.
I am really pleased with this tag, it just all seemed to go together so easily...
Do pop over and join in with the challenge, there is a prize on offer, so well worth a visit....you can find it here at....

My Purple Album....

I decided to drag this fab album out from the depths of my craft stash...I remember ages ago I had bought several of these albums, each one different as in Life,Love,Home,Live....and after altering a few as gifts, the others somehow got buried when new stash arrived...you know how it is, lol.
So for my designer project for More Mixed Media this month I used one of the albums.
The theme as always is Anything Goes, so long as it is Mixed Media...there is a twist each month as in a colour and for this months challenge the colour is Purple

I had a lovely pad of backing papers in my stash, the colours ranging from deep purple to almost lilac..so this is what I used to cover the album pages.

On some white card I stamped then die cut the flowers...shaped them, distressed the edges with ink and then added a pretty pearly brad to each flower.
I cut a few leaves and then added them with the flowers to the album...to finish I cut and added some white and purple ribbon to the book rings and added some pearly gems to each page.

Altered puzzle piece..Vintage Style

I happened to come across a child's floor puzzle in a charity shop..the pieces are quite large and just perfect for altering...
As usual the 1st of each month sees the new challenge start over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit...so for my project I altered one of the puzzle pieces to make a pretty wall hanging.

I started by sanding the image off of the puzzle piece and then gave it a coat of gesso. When that was dry I then covered the piece with a napkin, when that was dry I punched 2 holes and added a cord for hanging.
Next I added a couple pieces of lace and some applique. I found a vintage image in my stash, so I distressed the edges of that and added that to a scrap piece of script backing paper, distressing the edges of that as well.

I added the topper to the altered puzzle piece and then added a couple of roses and pearl trim.
I felt it was still lacking something so I added a silver effect corner pieces and a blingy butterfly.
I am really happy with how this piece turned out..it now has pride of place hanging on the handle of my pine wardrobe.
Do pop over to the blog for a look...check out the designers projects this month..you may be inspired to join in with the challenge...

Road Trip / Holiday Tag

This weeks challenge is now underway over at Go Tag Thursday and the theme is Road Trip / Holiday
I decided to use my Road Trip set of stamps from Artistic Outpost

....and for the second tag, I used a stamps I bought from a declutter group on facebook..that stamp was from an A4 sheet by Tuscany Rose...

I adore this little boy in his car..all dressed up and ready for his trip, lol...

Do pop over and join in with the challenge if you can, any medium ( including digi ) and any sized tag..so long as you keep to the theme...

Altered Book Box

I've had this Book Box in my workshop for what seems like forever....my workshop is actually my garage and I happened to have the doors open when one of my neighbours walked by and said Hello, we ended up chatting for a while and I showed her where I crafted. My neighbour spotted the blank book box on the shelf and said her husband would love something like that...so I offered to alter it for her...
I thought this would be a good project for Altered Eclectics where I am on the design team there.

I started by painting the box in black acrylic paint..as the mdf was such good quality it took 2 coats easily and covered so well.
I searched through my stash and found some really thick backing paper and lined the inside of the lid and the box.

Because the box was for an elderly gent, I wanted to keep it simple, no frills so to speak.  Again in my stash I found some more of the thick backing papers that I could use for the cover of the box and also some contrasting paper for the edges and spine.

Once every thing was dry I went along the edges with Black Soot distress ink...I then re-added the hinges.
I was at a point where the box looked suitable, but it still needed something..so I added a metal embellishment that I had made gold using gilding wax...Finally I added the ribbon...I purposely didn't glue down the ribbon in case the gent didn't like it.
I am very pleased to say the box was well received and has been put to good use.
