Scrappy Tag

I am sure I am not alone when I say I can't find anything on my work desk because I have so much stuff on it..a pile of stuff here, a pile of stuff there, rubber stamps that need putting away and the ever growing pile of paper offcuts, lol....
Lucky for me the theme at Tag Tuesday is "To Use Your Scraps" while I was making the tag I was also making space on my desk...

I covered my tag with a scrap of backing paper, added a torn scrap of corrugated card that I swiped over with gesso..added 2 little scraps of sticky backed mesh..I was glad to use that up as they have been stuck to the side of my lamp for months, lol.
I used a doily and half wrapped it around the tag..In one of the tubs on my desk I had an vintage advertising card that was torn so I just distressed the edges more and  added 2 stamps to it and added it to my tag.
The lace was from a top I no longer wear and I cut the lace off and that too has been sitting on my desk for ages.
The sentiment tabs are from a friend, they aren't something I use very often, but they were just sitting there in a little poly bag so I had to use a couple...and I found a ready tied bow.
The image had been pre stamped for another project a few months ago..I always stamp an image a few times in case I mess one of them up when colouring or cutting.
You can find this lovely challenge here at

Just a couple of photos of the last lot of stuff to be sorted on my desk... lol

Famous Building Postcard

Do you ever have "one of those days"..well I've had one today...everything I had planned to do didn't happen for one reason or another..I got a tad irritable and decided to shut myself away in my garage and crafted for most of the day....and that resulted in me getting some projects finished and some others started...
So here we are with my Postcard for Sunday Postcard Art

The theme this week was chosen by Rein and she chose Famous Buildings.
My first choice was to create my postcard using stamps of Big Ben, but you know when you can't get a theme flowing, so I decided to change it and rummaged through my stamps, eventually I settled with the Eiffel Tower in really is an amazing piece of architecture.
The background of my postcard was built up using inks, paints and stamped images. I stamped the tower, then the postcard script and postmark.
The couple is also a stamp and I coloured in the lady's scarf just to highlight it a bit.
You can find the challenge here at
Sunday Postcard Art

I am also entering my postcard in to the challenge at Try it on Tuesday
Their theme is Postcards

A Couple of Tags

This weeks challenge is underway over at Go Tag Thursday....and the theme is Anything Goes.
So if you enjoy making Tags..any medium is acceptable, then do pop over and join in.

                                               Tag One

I have made 2 that is stamped on card that was coloured using oxide distress inks and then sprayed with seal and shine.
I love the oxide inks, but I do find their colour to be a lacks lustre, in some cases that's absolutely fine, but in this instance I wanted a brighter look.
As I had some fairy images on my work bench I added one to my Tag....

                                           Tag Two

My 2nd Tag was created from mount board that I had applied acrylic paints to. When the paint was dry I stamped the main image and then built the tag up using some small background stamps.
I sprayed the tag with seal and shine which really enhances the paints and inks..makes them so much brighter with a bit of a sheen to them.
To finish I added the chain and key...

Altered Cube

Time for this months challenge over at More Mixed Media..the challenges are always anything goes, with an optional twist to use the specified colour or colours.
For August the Colour theme is "Brights "
So for my designer piece I decorated one of my wooden cubes..these are solid wood and make great paper weights.

I started by sealing the wood with a primer and while that was drying I coloured some card with Oxide distress inks, spritzing and drying with a heat tool until I got the colour how I wanted it.

When the card was completely dry I cut 6 pieces to cover each side, top & bottom of my cube.
I stamped the images on each piece..these are new stamps that I was lucky enough to win from Aall&Create, designed by Tracy this is their very first outing and I love them.

Once the inks were dry I adhered the card to the cube then sprayed it all over with Seal&Shine which really enhances the oxide ink colours.
To finish I decorated a heart in colours that matched and adhered it to the top of the cube.
Do pop over to check out the have the opportunity of winning some fabulous digi paper packs from Lozzy, our boss lady...

The Letter "S"

This is the theme for this weeks challenge over at Go Tag really is surprising how many themes I could think of beginning with "S" I set off to my craft room and got started..and what do I do, I make my tags completely different from the ones I was going to do.
The reason for that is because I was going through all my stamps looking for the ones I needed and came across others that were suitable and haven't been used in a while, fact I think I have only used the shoes stamp 3 time in all the years I've had it...
                                    So here we are my
                                         Spooky Tag

and my Shoe Tag

Turquoise & Dark Brown Tag

Hello from a wet and windy place in Devon.UK. It really is miserable outside and it's quite dark here to, what with being surrounded by tall hedges and trees my lounge is quite dark today.
I've created a tag from mount board, I have quite a lot of it and I like  the thickness of it as it with stands a lot of paint and inks etc.
Over at Tag Tuesday the theme is Favourite of course I had to enter the challenge.

I love Turquoise and Dark Brown and to be honest I don't use this colour combination enough...of course most of us crafters have several colour combos we like to use and I have others too, but this one stands out the most for me.
I coloured the mount board tag in turquoise ink and when it was dry I stamped the image in dark brown.
On a spare piece of card that I coloured I re-stamped the heart section of the stamp. Once dry I added glossy accents to it, then left it to dry before cutting out and adding to my Tag.
To finish I distressed the edges of the tag in dark brown.

August Challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit

For my designer project for August I decided to alter a canvas.
The canvas itself had been previously coloured, so I went over that with a wash of diluted acrylic paints..then using other colours that I had also diluted I loaded a watercolour paint brush and flicked paint over the canvas creating a speckled effect.

I started layering up my canvas with scraps from my stash, distressing the edges of the papers.
I also cut and used halves of a couple of large tags and a ticket and price tag.

I had a Graphic45 menu/label that was in my stash so I adhered the image of this lovely lady to that and added her to the canvas.

Next I added a strip of muslin and added a strip of lace. I then added a strip of fabric that had some lovely blue script on it..and embellished that with a key.

I finished embellishing the canvas with a optician's lens on the lady's face, some flowers and a metal leaf...and I just couldn't resist adding the beautiful lace butterfly.

As always at Rhedds, it is altered art and there is no theme...No Papercrafts as in Cards or Atcs.
This is not a prize giving challenge ,however we do select a Winner, a Runner Up and a Design Team Choice..and of course there are the badges to go with that...and even if you have been selected before, you can still be selected do pop over and have a look.

Altered Rolling Pin..Shabby Chic style

A while ago I stumbled across some altered rolling pins and I was amazed how gorgeous some of the what better project for my designer project for Altered Eclectics this month.

My rolling pin is a smaller type, the wood is gorgeous, the wood grain was lovely so I decided not to paint it.
I first wrapped some muslin around the pin...then added some fabric that has script printed on it..added another layer of muslin.
All layers of the fabrics I frayed at the edges.

I then added several strips of lace and beaded braid to the pin.
In the centre of the pin I adhered a fabric flower and this beautiful lace butterfly...
the butterfly is gorgeous on its own,but for this project I just wanted to add a little something extra so added a pearly centre piece...
I tied organza ribbon around the neck of each handle so it can be hung's currently on my pine wardrobe door handle...and very nice it looks

Do pop over to the challenge blog and play with us this month...all sorts of altered art/mixed media is acceptable...except cards. atcs etc, no papercrafts.

Catch of the Day.....

It's sunday..time for another great challenge over at
Sunday Postcard Art
This week their theme is Turquoise and Lime...great colours..except my turquoise looks more blue than turquoise,lol...

I used turquoise acrylic paint for the base of my postcard, once dry I then used lime acrylic paint on a few stamps and splodged that over the turquoise.
The image of the lady I found in my stash and the stamped images and shells are all from stamps in my stash.

I must have taken a least 15 photos trying to get the turquoise in it's true annoying, but then in my defence the weather here was wet all day and quite dark...

Do pop over and have a look at this challenge..check out the entries too, there is some amazing talent there...

Rainbow Postcard

It's Sunday...time for a new challenge over at Sunday Postcard Art.
This week the theme is anything related to that is acceptable..just be sure to make your postcard 4"x 6"

                            Here is my Rainbow Postcard

For the background colour of my postcard I used Oxide Inks..then using chalks I coloured a rainbow, blending in with my finger tip.
I stamped the tree with the verse and also stamped a few birds.
The little pixie was added as an after thought because it had fallen out of a folder and was lying on my desk near the I just had to add it.

Button It Tag

These are my tags for the challenge this week over at Go Tag Thursday The theme is Button a button, either stamped, die cut, a real button must be clearly seen on the tag...

For my first Tag I used a PaperArtsy image of the lady and masked that to stamp the back ground..I added the lens, the Sassy label, the flower and buttons to finish it...
The background colour was created using Oxide Inks, that had been sprayed many times to bring the colour down to a nice shade of pink.

I am entering my Sassy Tag in to the lovely challenge over at Try It On Tuesday....their theme is Tags.

For this tag, again the background was created using Oxide Inks, then randomly stamped. I added some sticky back mesh to one side of the tag..and added a frayed strip of fabric towards the lower part of the tag. Using a wooden heart that I covered in paper and added a label. To one side of the heart I added some sticky backed mesh,  finally adding the buttons
I found a scrap of old lace and added that to the heart before adhering it to the tag.
To finish I just tied some cream ribbon around the lower part of the tag over the fabric.

So if you like making Tags and you enjoy a challenge, why not pop over and join in...there are no prizes, just the chance of your tag being chosen to be showcased...

In case you have never visited, its a challenge blog just for Postcards..any medium, just stay within the chosen theme each week...and of course your postcard must measure 4"x 6"
The theme I have chosen is Days Gone By...or Nostalgia.

For the base of my postcard I used Oxide Inks and some torn papers. I then swiped over it with a very thin layer of gesso.
I stamped the words and the postcard script from stamps in my stash.
The butterfly was die cut from some spare card that had been coloured with Oxide Inks..then stamped and added to the postcard.
The image, would you believe is actually "Me"..I was 3yrs cousin Stuart is stood next to me, he is 18 months older than me.
This photo was taken by my mother...we had been for a walk and my mother and my auntie added the wild flowers to our ears, well not in our ears, they were looped over the top, lol.
Notice Stuart, being a typical boy, is holding his for me I am carrying an old camera case...

Pretty Gift Bag

I have had these very pretty papers in my stash for what seem years...I am not a "cute" designer when it comes to my craft projects, so is it any wonder these have been neglected.
The challenge this month over at More Mixed Media is as always Anything Goes, but with a colour twist...and this month the twist is "Pastels" these papers were just perfect to use for my gift bag.

I mounted the pretty papers on to some white card adhered them to the front and  back of the bag.
For the front only I added a strip of lace to one side and then made a panel using white card, die cuts and a torn strip of paper from the same set.
The little white frame was treated to some lovely pale green gilding wax...I found an image on another sheet of paper, so trimmed that to fit in the frame.

I adhered the panel to the front of the bag, then added the frame, flowers and some gorgeous pearly white leaves.
To finish the bag I added some really vintage lace to the handle....
My friends birthday is today so this bag will be holding her birthday present....

A little bit of Haberdashery

I was given this house frame some time ago by my friend, it had been given to her, but she being a card maker passed it on to me saying "I'm sure you will make good use of it"...and I have, even though its taken me about 2yrs to use it,lol.
To be fair I had put it with all my other stash and like most of us, forgot about it, it only resurfaced while I was looking for something else!
So I kept it one side to use for my Dt project for
Rhedd's Creative Spirit.....

The frame was in very good condition so needed no adjustment.
In the photo below you can see at one time it had a "back" to it

I cut a "back" from some thick mount board.

I then laid the frame over the mount board and pencilled in the "windows"

I used some pretty Paris themed paper and covered the windows that I had marked in pencil.

Once the glue was dry I slid the "back" in to the frame to be sure the "window" sections were in their correct position..then I removed it and painted the frame in cream acrylic paint.
Once the paint was dry I added the "back" and tacked it in to place using a few small pins.

From my stash I had steadily sorted through some trinkets, knick knacks and added them to the windows. I found a lovely vintage photo that I trimmed for a metal frame and added that to a window.

I kind of had a bit of a haberdashery them going on in my head, so I cut some small pieces of fabric and tied them in bundles..wrapped lace and ribbon on to some reels...I even found a small MDF sewing machine, that has been in my stash for years,lol..
Once I was happy with all the furnishings I added some ribbon and a pink rose to a dress form and adhered that to the side of the frame.
All in all I am very happy with this project.....I've since added a hanging bracket on the back, so this now hangs on my bedroom wall.
Do pop over and take a look at the design teams creations for this month...we are an altered art/ mixed media challenge blog ( no papercrafts ) so maybe you would like to enter the challenge...
You can find it here at

Seahorse Altered Match Box.

This month for Altered Eclectics I altered a small MDF matchbox, these are readily available in different sizes from Fernli Designs,

After gluing the matcbox together and leaving it to dry over night, I gave it a coat of gesso. The inside of the drawer I paint in pale blue.
Using card that I coloured with distress inks, I stamped it with a nautical image...then I cut it to fit all sides of the box and the front and back of the drawers.

I sprayed the match box with a gloss sealer, added the knob to the drawer.
Then I added the seahorse, some drift wood, mesh and shells and quote and again sprayed the box again with the gloss sealer.
The sealer also brightened up the glass and shells and pebbles that went in to the drawer...I was really pleased with the effect...

A couple of "Star Tags"

It's Thursday..time for another challenge over at Go Tag Thursday.
The theme this week is Star /Stars

For my first Tag I used a stamp set from Artistic Outpost...First I created a background using Oxide inks and stamping film reels and stars over the tag. I found a film strip stamp, totally for got I owned that and stamped that with Stazon ink on some acetate. The baby and larger stars and sentiment were stamped on to some spare card and coloured...once dry I added them to my tag.

As with my first Tag I created the background with Oxide Inks..the taking different stamps I added the stars and hot air balloon.
The sentiment and Flying Man were stamped on spare card, coloured, cut then applied to the Tag....

So if you like making Tags and you enjoy a challenge do pay us a visit, we are here at

Numbers Postcard....

Finally...I got around to finishing my postcard. I was busy at the weekend with my great grandson and at almost 3yrs I did have my hands full.
This weeks theme at Sunday Postcard Art was chosen by Audrey and she chose "Numbers"

I created the background for my 6" x 4" postcard, then using a selection of stamps I added the grass and number script..then on some spare card I stamped and cut out the numbers and the Hangin ' Out script...
The image of the postman and his son were in the public domain, I remember printing it off about 2/3 yrs ago and never got to use I thought now was a good time.
Isn't it a great image..I love the look on the little boys face...his father dsoen't look too happy
