Tag It at Crafty Individuals...

A lovely lady called Carol who pops along and leaves such lovely comments on my blog, has a lovely blog, not only that she also has a list of daily challenges...
I loved her Tag entry in to the Crafty Individuals Challenge, that I just had to enter the challenge myself, it seems by the skin of my teeth ( isn't that an odd saying when our teeth are made of enamel, lol )
So here's my Tag.....

I've gone for a steam punky/clock style tag, using one of Crafty Individuals stamps, which I think is quite a few years old now...it's a great stamp though. I've used a clock die cut and added some cogs for effect.

Steampunk style....

Just a quickie post this morning....
I bought this little round frame in a cheap store recently and this is what I did with it...

It measures about 10cms (4") across. I first sealed the wood with gesso then painted it with some dark brown textured paint, it has a gritty texture (see 2nd photo) and dries quite quickly.
I used a Kanban Steampunk image for the centre and then added a few cogs (by Fernli Designs) that I had painted in metallic bronze and gold.
Simple and effective I think...and a nice little hanging for a little boys bedroom.

It's a great Quote...

Well, the weather has been cooler these last couple of nights, but it still isn't helping me sleep, so I got up and crafted.
I like to enter Mandy's Tagalong Challenge as often as I can and this is my entry...

The theme for the current challenge is " Quotes"...this stamp seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Just look at the expression on this boys face, lol.
I used chalks for shading the background and the brickwork is a stamp from a journalling set by Sincity Stamps....the little boy is by Paperbag Studios and the stars are from a set of stamps by Artistic Outpost...so a good mix all round.
I had fun with the chalks, not something I usually use, just wanted to have a play...seems to have turned out okay, so will definitely use them more often.

Vintage Sports....

I know people will dislike me for saying it, but I really have had enough of the summer heat now...it's just getting hotter and makes me feel unwell.
My craft room ( my garage under my maisonette ) is the coolest place to be, so that's where I've been all afternoon.
I entered Fernli Designs Challenge which is on Facebook....it's a greatt monthly challenge where you have to make something using their fab product

I used Fernli's large wooden Tag, some hexagon shapes and a banner.

My decorated Tag using Graphic45 papers

Hexagon shapes have been added using foam sticky pads for height

Banner added using sticky foam pads for height.

It's never too early for Christmas....

Over at Rhedd & Rosies they they have just launched their 39th Challenge...the theme is "Anything Goes"

Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet are the sponsors for this challenge and they gave the design team some fabulous images to use...I chose this gorgeous christmas image....not just for the lovely design, but also for the fact I didn't have to "colour" it too much. Do pop over to Rhedd & Rosies and to see the other images used by the team.
Stitchy Bear are offering $10 to use over the 3 designers of the images used by the team...well worth entering the challenge for.

It's a Man's World

Well, it's been a while since I last entered this fab challenge...Sunday Postcard Art. The theme this week is "Men Only"

For my postcard (4" x 6") I have used two picture Le Blanche stamps, also a couple of random stamps that I had in my stash...so love the sentiment, it fits the theme exactly, lol.

Father's Day Memories

In memory of my Dad on Father's Day
                           Henry Charles King. 1928-2012

In the "Pink"

Having spent the night crafting in my nice cool garage ( my craft room ) I thought I would post my entry for the Tagalong Challenge before  grabbing a few hours sleep.

The Tagalong Challenge theme this week is to use "Pink"
I've been wanting to use these Artistic Outpost Stamps for ages and this challenge was the perfect excuse to get them out of the packet...I so love this little ballerina.
I stamped several of the images straight on to the Tag, then stamped and coloured the Ballerina Girl on some light weight card...once she was dry I cut her out and added her to the Tag using sticky back foam pads, just to give her a bit of a lift.

Charity shop find & Yvonne's challenge

This gorgeous cotton and lace bag was a little grubby and creased, but I could see it's potential and decided to buy it (just a few pennies) I left it to soak over night, which lifted all the dirt, then rinsed, dried and ironed it. Then I packed it away to wait for the right project came along so I could use it.......
Then a little over a week ago Yvonne White ( who is in admin in UK&Ireland Crafts Swap Group) on facebook offered members the chance to win a prize by entering her challenge. We had to use a vintage image (supplied by Yvonne) in our entry and it had to be in by 15th June.
I've not been feeling too grand and decided to do some sewing rather than craft down in my garage and this is my entry using that charity shop cotton bag....

Taken in the sunshine

I  transferred the image on to muslin, which was then layered on some cotton fabric. Using some wadding I padded the image area and then layered the whole piece over more muslin and cotton.
I used 2 different styles of lace, although both are cotton...once stitched in place I then stitched on the string pearls and the 2 ribbon bows. I then frayed some of the edges of the cotton and muslin behind the lace.

This is how it looks hanging on my wardrobe door...so pleased with the way it looks...what a bit of luck finding that bag....

Vintage Tag Album...Design Team Make.

This is my design team piece for this fortnight's challenge over at Rhedd & Rosies Challenge Blog....
I made an album using flattened toilet tissue tubes ( taken out before use I might add, lol )
First I made the front and back of the album using grey board, then I covered them in designer papers ( Graphic45 Vintage Diary)...once done I punched 2 holes for the book rings.

I took 6 tissue tubes and flatten them, then using book binder's glue I covered them in designer paper, once covered I then punched 2 holes at one end for the book rings

I cut 6 pieces of thick card for the Tags and covered them in papers and also with labels and images.

This photo shows the back of the Tags

I then covered the back of the Tags, again using labels and images. I then made a small tab for each tag from the off cuts of papers.

This photo shows the front of the Tags

Once I assembled the album, I added the flowers to the front cover and added the ribbons to the book rings.

We have a fabulous prize for the challenge this fortnight...the theme is "Back in Time,Vintage Style"

So Pretty.....

Just popped in to post another of my Altered Playing Card Albums. This is one that I did for a swap and my swap partner has now received it, she loved it I'm pleased to say.
These are such fun to make...I basically sandwiched 12 used playing cards between 2 pieces of stiff card...I used book binder's glue as the cards are laminated.
Once they were all dry they were ready to decorate...love how sturdy they are.

                                               Front

                                   Back with Angel Charm

The papers are Graphic45 and were just perfect to use for this project....

I'm entering this Altered Playing Card Album in to the challenge over at...Altered Eclectics

Altered Playing Cards Mini Album

The "June" Challenge has just launched over at Rhedds Creative Spirit...
For my design team piece I altered some playing cards to make in to a mini album....

I covered both sides of these old playing cards with quite thick card, using book binder's glue as the surface of the cards are laminated and I didn't think they would withstand any sanding down.
When they were all dry,I trimmed them down and re-rounded the corners....they ended up really nice and sturdy, almost like board.

I used these fabulous papers from Graphic45 to decorate both sides of the cards, added some pockets and labels, I also cut some of the individual images and added them as well.

There's a great prize to be had again this months winner...this lovely Tea Light Holder, all ready for you to decorate....so do pop over for a look.

The challenge is here at ......Rhedd's Creative Spirit
